​"I spent around 6 months working at I.P.A.I. as an English teacher while I was living in Jaco in 2011. It’s a small and friendly school in the centre of Jaco, a very short walk to the beach and not too far from the mountains. The school is popular with locals who want to learn or improve their English, as well as with visitors to Costa Rica wishing to learn Spanish.
The students were always hard working and enthusiastic and were a pleasure to teach. I was new to teaching when I started but settled in quickly and never had any issues, although I know I would have been fully supported by Augusto and Yohana had it been necessary.
There are always plenty of events organised for students (and teachers too) such as hikes in the mountains, surfing lessons or even trips to Peru! Augusto and his family made me feel welcome and appreciated and I’m glad we’ve stayed in touch since I returned to the UK. I still dream of returning to Costa Rica and would definitely like to work at I.P.A.I. again if I were to go back!"
